Sober Not Mature

This week we have...

Same old stuff, different week. Yep! It's Mike and Bill.

Mike started out with his reading and it was about living in the moment. It's something that we strive for and talk about quite a bit and it was a good conversation.

We announced our "surprise guest," and gave a little background. His episode will be released on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Then on to the word sobriety (what does it mean to us), triggers (again), cocaine sharks, Hi Bob, psychics and some of our "normal" nonsense.

We also chatted about Northern Wisconsin and the beauty of Michigan.

Enjoy the episode.

Bill
all right everyone welcome once again to another episode of sober not mature and i am coming from you from wisconsin yeah actually i was gonna say way up way up north because literally i i can look out the window and i can i was gonna say i can i'm on spitting distance but i can see michigan from here so yeah

00:00:13.20
Mike
Barely.

00:00:23.58
Mike
Right. Exactly. Yeah. Uppers.

00:00:26.77
Bill
Yeah, exactly. So I did a little bit of running around and I know I posted some pictures and stuff like that. I'll talk about a couple of things. This this place has been cool so far. Nothing, no real problems. Just a couple of things I think that they might make make make you laugh at me a little bit when when I tell you about them. But yeah, just kind of kind of fun stuff.

00:00:42.91
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:00:44.61
Bill
But yeah, all in all, I mean, it's been nice up here. The weather though has been, shit, it was like fucking 48 degrees this morning.

00:00:50.07
Mike
Well, yeah, you're fucking Arctic Circle up there, man.

00:00:54.51
Bill
I know. Yeah. The first thing I'm thinking, I'm like, first of all, driving around just real quick. I mean, up some of these hills and stuff like that, especially when I went over, you know, in a couple of things in Michigan, I'm like, man, this place has got to be a fucking bitch in the wintertime. It's just got to be terrible, you know?

00:01:08.33
Mike
Yeah.

00:01:08.38
Bill
And then the same thing with the weather, you know, the weather was beautiful over the weekend and then it was fine. It's fine during the day. It rained a couple of days. So, um, but yeah, I mean, it's, it's, it's already, I mean, it's, it's still, it's fucking July and it was in the goddamn forties last night. So yeah. Oh, well.

00:01:22.78
Mike
yeah Yeah, right.

00:01:25.56
Bill
But yeah, I don't want to i don't don't want to live here, don't have to live here.

00:01:25.88
Mike
Yeah.

00:01:28.68
Bill
I could just visit for a few weeks and I'm good.

00:01:29.31
Mike
All right.

00:01:33.58
Bill
Yeah. So, um, but yeah, so it's a, it's a Thursday. We'll get into why, uh, that we think we're doing Thursday next year next week too. Cause we get another thing. I don't know what I made on here, but I'll talk about it in a minute. But, uh, yeah, once again, nobody knows the goddamn difference, but there's a reason for it.

00:01:47.47
Mike
Nope.

00:01:48.36
Bill
And the cool part is I'll say it again. We just like we don't miss our readings. We don't miss the shit we have to do to get sober.

00:01:54.48
Mike
something

00:01:56.71
Bill
This is one of those things that we don't miss a fucking episode.

00:01:56.89
Mike
right

00:01:59.55
Bill
So there.

00:02:00.29
Mike
isn So there, even when we don't want to do it, here we are.

00:02:04.84
Bill
Yeah, exactly. And I tell you, you know, same thing we always talk about these Thursday nights. You know, during the week, it's fucking weird to record it just logistically and all that stuff and figuring out both of our well, not the my schedule changes, but yours could. And then I mean, it still gets late by the time we're done. But you know what, what are we willing to do, I guess, right?

00:02:24.63
Mike
Exactly um yeah Um Thankfully my feelings don't have a goddamn thing to do with it.

00:02:26.54
Bill
So on that on that note, though, Mike, are you willing to do a reading tonight?

00:02:38.65
Mike
So yeah, apparently I'm going to do a reading now

00:02:41.97
Bill
Awesome. You know what? who Who said that? I think Gary said he likes the read. There's been a couple of people. I think people get to the point where I like it, but you know I think other people actually probably look forward to it. so

00:02:52.23
Mike
Right. Well, you know, clearly it's not us. So it's gotta be better than the rest of the shit. So, uh, all right.

00:02:58.10
Bill
Exactly.

00:02:58.73
Mike
hey This was, uh, this was actually from this week. This was, um, yesterday, if you're keeping track, uh, July 24th. Uh, that's from God grant me as usual. Um, let's see here. I have lost my favorite tea cup. i can have I can have lost my teacup and be miserable. I can have lost my t teacup and be all right. Either way, my teacup is gone." It's a Chinese proverb. It does little good to look back with sadness or shame about the past.

00:03:37.58
Mike
One of the promises of recovery is that we shall neither regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We are to admit and accept. We work to stay in the moment, for in this moment, we can work for our future. If we stay sober in this moment, we increase our chances of being sober in the future. In recovery, we use our energies and our attitudes to live in the present. We are to be willing to let the past be the past and just focus on today. Remember this, it is only in this moment that we have choice and influence. It is in this moment where we choose to act to end our isolation or increase our isolation from family, friends, values, and our higher power. And once this moment is gone, we must let it be gone.

00:04:32.48
Mike
prayer for the day, higher power. I can only connect with you in each moment. Help me to have the courage to live in the present and not hide in the past or the future. Today's action, those pesky pesky actions. Today I will work to develop my skills in living in the moment. I will use awareness and attitude to stay in the present and pull myself back into the moment.

00:04:57.16
Bill
Thank was all about the present and the moment which we talk about quite a bit so um so yeah i mean but well maybe let's start with that last that last paragraph because the entire reading i think the first part is always kind of funny when i when i read that i mean it doesn't matter you could talk about anything but yeah the whole point is that uh whether you like it or not or whoever you deal with it your fucking teacup is gone you know so i just it it makes me laugh every time i read it but

00:05:04.65
Mike
It was aha.

00:05:24.29
Mike
That's right.

00:05:28.82
Bill
So that the last part of it, the last the action part of it, um you know, it talks about what pulling yourself into the moment or staying in the moment, right?

00:05:36.73
Mike
All right.

00:05:37.89
Bill
So, um I mean, I know that, and we talk about it a lot. it's I would say one of our mantras, you know one of our habits, one of our things, obviously about being in the moment, living in the moment, being present, all those sort of things.

00:05:45.51
Mike
Yeah. Mm hmm.

00:05:51.14
Bill
but So what do you do um if you, I don't know, if you feel like you're getting drawn out of that, how how do you pull yourself back into the moment?

00:05:59.81
Mike
Hmm. Um, I mean, hmm. I, you know, no, I'm really trying to think about it because I mean, I don't, I don't really, um I don't spend a lot of time thinking about the past much. um I mean, you know, I'm human like everybody else. I remember things and I, you know, that time was good. That was, I tend not to focus on the shit times from before. um I will look back on fond memories of the past, um you know, but I don't, I don't, I don't dwell on it. I don't,

00:06:34.17
Mike
And I sure as hell don't sit here and worry about the future. um I just don't anymore.

00:06:38.00
Bill
All

00:06:39.76
Mike
um My life is pretty much living in the moment, living in the present. That's that's what I do. it's I don't know. I find it easier, um quite frankly. you know and and being a good alcoholic, I'm always looking for these years softer way and, and, and yeah. And and really kind of being in the present is, you know, even when it's shit, it's like, you know, ah I'm also aware that, you know, this moment is going to only last a moment. Um, so what it is kind of shitty, it's like, okay, well, yeah let's get through it and it'll, it'll be better or it'll be worse, but then it'll change again because that's what it fucking does, man. Um,

00:07:20.47
Mike
Yeah. So, um, to, to pull myself back in, I don't know. i I don't really let myself get out of it a whole hell of a lot. Um, you know, I mean, I'll, I'll kind of, I guess again, human, you know, like everybody else, I'll, I'll worry about something that's going to be coming up or I'll look forward to something that's coming up. Um, but I don't, I don't spend a lot of time on the past or the present. um I kind of just, I just kind of be, you know, and I i don't know oh how I got to this point.

00:07:46.95
Bill
Right.

00:07:54.25
Mike
I mean, other than, you know, following direction and, you know, just. having it rammed into our heads over and over again, this is where we have to live because this is where we are. Um, it's kind of acceptance, you know, that, um, this is it, man. You know, I accept the fact that this is, this is where I'm at.

00:08:10.46
Bill
Right.

00:08:12.39
Mike
This is what it is. And, um, yeah. And, and so I don't really kind of stray from that whole hell of a lot. I mean, I certainly did before, you know, I would be worried about the future and I would, I would regret the past and you know, medicate myself. That was kind of the best way to handle that. Um, you know, but by doing that, i'd I'd miss lots and lots of moments I've missed in my life. Um, again, that regret shit that I don't play with much. Um, but yeah, I've missed all kinds of moments.

00:08:43.61
Mike
Um, and I try not to today cause I don't want to admit have a hell of a lot left. So I'm going to try to enjoy what I have and yeah,

00:08:48.66
Bill
Right.

00:08:51.90
Mike
You know, yeah again, to answer your question after all that rambling is um i I really don't have to because I don't stray very far from the moment anymore.

00:09:02.12
Bill
Right? Well, and and what what it made me think of when you were saying all that was that, um and I was trying to think, I've got like a mild example, just from a work standpoint over the last probably week or so, well especially today and like yesterday, but um I think that kind of when I was getting from it, what it made me think about was just that living in being and in doing, you know, what's here and now in the moment in front of us has become habit, you know, and it's become da, become da.

00:09:23.89
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:09:31.27
Bill
It done become, ah it's become, you know, just commonplace for us to, to focus.

00:09:36.45
Mike
Yeah, a way of life.

00:09:38.12
Bill
Yeah, for us to just focus on it because we've been, we were taught that and you know, we now we get a couple of years behind us and things like that. And, um, you know, I like the fact because you're right.

00:09:43.51
Mike
Hmm.

00:09:46.27
Bill
It, it's so much, and I think that's important to repeat is it is so much easier to just be where we are now versus any other place.

00:09:53.42
Mike
Hmm. Right.

00:09:55.86
Bill
Like you said, fond memories are thinking back or, whatever the case is every once in a while you know that i think that regret tries to pull us back in but it's like fucking we can't change it you know or or the future you know we start as they you know the kids say future tripping over shit um you know again everything else tries to pull us into it but we just we kind of stay here in the work example was uh and i think i mentioned last week maybe even the week before it's actually been

00:10:02.92
Mike
Hmm. Right.

00:10:21.63
Bill
It's been a slow month you know for everyone.

00:10:23.66
Mike
Right.

00:10:24.10
Bill
I see everyone is a little bit behind in where they are and I had a higher goal this month. um I'm not giving up. I hate to say that I'm not going to hit the goal that he set for me, but man, there would have to be a lot of things would have to fall into place for it to do that.

00:10:30.62
Mike
Hmm.

00:10:37.44
Mike
Hmm.

00:10:38.70
Bill
So I've kind of lowered my expectation of where i where I really need to be and I say need based on what I want to make money wise and that sort of thing. But what that's done for me is that you know, it's taken me to that that future point that worry point That's like, okay my commission and what am I gonna do? And where am I gonna go? I'm not gonna go broke or anything like that but you know like these this extra money gives me a chance to Continue to do what and I say extra quote-unquote

00:10:58.43
Mike
right

00:11:05.46
Mike
ahha

00:11:05.79
Bill
um You know but but all those things that i thought about i'm like okay so i know we're gonna be i know what i gotta do and all i can do what i kept telling myself what in bringing myself back into the moment was all i can do is keep keep my head on my ass. I can't get down on myself i can't fucking give up on what i'm trying to do and i just need to keep.

00:11:22.28
Mike
Right. Right.

00:11:26.00
Bill
same thing was to do with the sobriety thing. I one foot in front of the other keep moving forward keep doing those things and whatever I can't change I can't make people pay I can't make people act the way that I want them to act in real life you know I can't make people act the way I want want my work life either so

00:11:29.82
Mike
Yeah. Right.

00:11:43.34
Bill
I need to resolve myself to the fact that I think I'm going to hit a certain point that should be okay.

00:11:47.08
Mike
Mm

00:11:48.78
Bill
Maybe I'll miss my goal, but it is what it is. you know but um and that's the I don't want to say I wrestle with it, but I recognize the cool part is is that I recognize if, although it's not often, if I do get pulled in either direction, thankfully I recognize it these days.

00:11:51.24
Mike
hmm.

00:12:03.23
Mike
Right.

00:12:04.80
Bill
you know That's a gift.

00:12:05.01
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:12:06.08
Bill
that's a gift

00:12:06.34
Mike
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. And you recognize it and you go, well, this is fucking useless. Why? i a Right.

00:12:14.64
Bill
Right.

00:12:15.55
Mike
Yeah, exactly. I'll fucking there's nothing I could do, man. You know, my teacup is fucking gone.

00:12:22.69
Bill
Yeah, because I mean, really what what I'm worried about and what if I if I allow myself to do it, what I'm worried about is, you know, 5pm next Wednesday, because that's the end of the month, you know,

00:12:31.93
Mike
Right.

00:12:32.62
Bill
And like like we always say, joke about, you know, or maybe, you know, who it's reality at this age. Who knows if I'm gonna live until 5 p.m.

00:12:39.12
Mike
Yeah, no shit Mm

00:12:39.68
Bill
next Wednesday? You know, so, um yeah, so we say that jokingly, but it is, you know, it's fucking, all we have is is right now and it just, whatever, I could get a ton of big payments.

00:12:48.03
Mike
-hmm Did

00:12:49.94
Bill
i could Fucking miracles can happen and, you know, the seas could cross and the skies can open up, whatever the fuck, I don't know. You know, so, um yeah, I just gotta to keep keep doing what I'm doing, but yeah, the, The whole point of, in things that I wrote down, I wrote down, obviously living in living the moment, focus on today, we talked about, um look back with sadness or shame that inadvertently we just talked about, even though, not inadvertently, but we just talked about that.

00:13:08.79
Mike
Mm hmm. Right.

00:13:15.43
Bill
um So I wrote down admit and accept, and that was from that was from the beginning. And I think that was about like the teacup being gone, you know, whatever whatever happens happens, kind of it is what it is would be the admit and accept, right?

00:13:29.72
Mike
right Yes, yes, exactly. And there's a bit, bit, bit, bit, bit.

00:13:32.65
Bill
Thanks.

00:13:33.96
Mike
What the hell is it? now Your energy attitude, presence. um Damn, choose the aggregate of isolation. Oh hell, now I'm not gonna get it. It's in here somewhere. Right, but admit it, except when we're working our future, damn it. um Something about the consequences or something, recovery, we got to pass, shut the door on it, shit. ah should go but I should go back and listen to this podcast.

00:14:01.51
Bill
Right, right, yeah, exactly, go back. You want me to rewind? No, I can't do it, but but so yeah, you're looking for something in there that said consequences with the actions or lack of.

00:14:05.21
Mike
Right. I mean, I thought so. Yeah, like admitting and shit. All right. Well, that's a shame. except we state roll I'm trying to read the whole fucking thing.

00:14:24.96
Bill
That's okay. Yeah, i'll i'll ah I'll talk about one more thing because the other thing that I wrote down was um ending isolation and it talked about choosing, you know, to ah you know are basically us choosing to certain things, but also I just wrote down the the fact of ending isolation because I mean, I think that with all of this, you know, the, um I don't know that the same thing getting getting trapped in the future or the past or the good or the bad or the perceived good and bad of things. um And like you said, we used to get loaded to do it, we did it when isolating.

00:14:57.03
Bill
And we can still do it today, you know, through figure, you know, I'm worried about worried about what's going to happen, you know, next Wednesday at 5 p.m.

00:14:58.93
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:15:02.85
Bill
So fuck it. I'm just I'm just going to sit and I'm going to I'm going to dwell and I'm going to wallow, you know, which the fuck good does that do?

00:15:07.63
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:15:09.42
Bill
Even if I'm not drinking, that's alcoholic behavior, right?

00:15:12.21
Mike
No, absolutely. Right.

00:15:13.68
Bill
Yeah.

00:15:13.89
Mike
Yeah. Yeah. and And again, what the hell's the point?

00:15:16.99
Bill
up Right, right.

00:15:16.98
Mike
Right. Sit, sit there and be fucking miserable over shit you can't control. Okay. That sounds like fun.

00:15:23.39
Bill
Right, right. And you know what, every once in a while, I just say, you know, I let out like a fuck or a fuck me or, you know, I'm like, like it'll work out, but I'm like, fuck.

00:15:29.18
Mike
Oh, yeah. Mm hmm.

00:15:32.17
Bill
And then I'm like, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, just keep doing the same. And by my 10 step, you know, over the last couple of weeks has been pretty much the same, you know, the the whole how was my day thing, which I do all the time. And I'm like, okay, like I've been mulling over this work shit in my head all goddamn day. Here's what I got to do. I've got to keep doing what I'm doing. That's it.

00:15:50.21
Mike
Right.

00:15:50.39
Bill
you know and one way or the other and you know the the same thing is that with everything else at the sobriety thing it it fits in what i'm doing with all of us do on a daily basis it doesn't matter if you want.

00:15:59.99
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:16:03.03
Bill
You know specific results they're not magically gonna come you gotta work for me not always gonna happen ah in our time imagine that.

00:16:06.39
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:16:09.71
Mike
All right.

00:16:10.80
Bill
you know So i just if i if I get pissed off, if I stop doing what I'm doing in sobriety, or in life, or at work, shit's gonna go bad. That's just it.

00:16:19.93
Mike
Right.

00:16:20.78
Bill
you know

00:16:20.94
Mike
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's he yes. Yes, exactly. No, I had a real good example of it in my face this week, but I can't talk about it, so.

00:16:33.62
Bill
ah That's okay, that's okay. You know what, and maybe maybe at some point you'll be able to talk about it, right?

00:16:39.13
Mike
Right. Yeah, maybe.

00:16:39.81
Bill
Yeah.

00:16:40.52
Mike
Yeah, you know, but it's not my, it's not my, again, the whole, you know, there are no bad examples, but yes, there was a, there was shit going on in my face this week and I looked at it and went, wow, okay.

00:16:46.34
Bill
Oh, I got you.

00:16:53.54
Mike
I won't be doing that.

00:16:55.82
Bill
Right. So, um, did you find your consequence part in the reading or did you give up?

00:16:59.61
Mike
No. Now I just gave up.

00:17:00.51
Bill
Okay.

00:17:01.37
Mike
I threw the book down.

00:17:02.78
Bill
Okay. Gotcha. But, uh, no, I'm,

00:17:04.13
Mike
The moment had passed.

00:17:06.76
Bill
Exactly. Reading was done the moment it passed, all those sort of things. But I mean, seriously, just ah I don't know, just to wrap this up in in my head, if nothing else, is just that, um you know, i we we say this all the time and it's kind of funny to me, but um it's funny to me that we need these fucking reminders.

00:17:10.46
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:17:27.38
Bill
you know

00:17:27.39
Mike
ah

00:17:28.07
Bill
I need to be reminded to be grateful. I need to be reminded to live in the moment, um all these sort of things. that's That's literally why we do all the things that we do every single day is because we're at the edge of the cliff. There's the cliff thing again. I finally remembered it, ah but literally we're at the edge of that fucking cliff for every day.

00:17:41.20
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:17:45.06
Bill
And even during the day, you know maybe if I get all worried and I start worrying about the future or the past, you know I get start getting dragged towards that fucking cliff again. I don't need that shit.

00:17:54.43
Mike
Right.

00:17:55.07
Bill
you know

00:17:55.41
Mike
Exactly.

00:17:56.51
Bill
Because all it does is that you know it if anything else stress is not it isn't good for anyone Certainly sure as fuck is a good for any goddamn alcoholic Stress anger all those sort of things that there's no good in any of it.

00:18:04.83
Mike
Right.

00:18:08.84
Bill
None of it, you know, so Right

00:18:08.91
Mike
Mm-hmm. I know right exactly. Well, and you know, she said i we need to be keep keep being reminded of these things, right? Well, I've heard once or twice in the rooms. We're quick forgetters and we are we are I mean, it's just kind of the nature of of the personality of an alcoholic is you know, we We forget we forget what kind of pieces of shit we were we forget, you know the things that we have to do we have to Continually remind ourselves of what we need to do and how we need to be otherwise We just slip right back into the old shit because that's what again, you know, we talked about a million times out here You know 40 years versus 14

00:18:22.12
Bill
right

00:18:50.14
Mike
You know, it's that it's easier to go back to the old stuff because that's what we did for most of our lives.

00:18:55.66
Bill
Right.

00:18:57.44
Mike
So this new shit, we have to continually work at, you know, I mean, I don't know.

00:19:00.69
Bill
Right.

00:19:02.61
Mike
I, I might make it to 84. I'm not planning on it. You know, so yeah, you know, if I make it to 84, then the the scales will tip and I will have been sober longer than I wasn't.

00:19:09.48
Bill
right

00:19:17.69
Mike
But I, you know, I don't think so. um I'm probably going to have been an active alcoholic longer than I have been sober.

00:19:21.16
Bill
Right.

00:19:26.67
Mike
That's just the way things are probably going to work out.

00:19:29.85
Bill
right yeah we're not uh we're not one of those you know 20-somethings that uh you know you hit 50 and you're like oh i five' ben i've been sober longer than i've than i drank yeah it's uh you know when you again when you get sober in your you know early 40s which is what we were then uh yeah the the odds of that again not that it can't happen you know i'm i'm a hike i'm a hiker now i walk down you know so

00:19:38.61
Mike
Right, that I wasn't. Right.

00:19:50.95
Mike
Sure. Ooh, I've heard that somewhere.

00:19:54.91
Bill
I just was I wasn't sure if I ever told you that I know you you and I don't talk that much anymore So just just so you're aware.

00:19:58.46
Mike
All right.

00:20:00.73
Bill
i'm I'm a hiker now

00:20:01.83
Mike
Ah.

00:20:04.39
Bill
but i got yeah I got a couple of things about that, but you don't just remind me of these these habits that we learn. So I was in in Walmart the other day and I've got part of my my story, what I was gonna tell you to you know in a minute or whatever is just that I've i've been ah to Walmart like five fucking times, but I grabbed something, I'm walking out and they got all the school supplies out, you know, at Walmart now.

00:20:24.67
Mike
Right. Uh-huh.

00:20:25.68
Bill
And this this Walmart here, it's nice, people are cool, it's clean, it's organized, there's nothing, you know, it's it's it's nice, you know.

00:20:29.14
Mike
Sure.

00:20:31.75
Mike
It's not Steel Yard.

00:20:33.27
Bill
No, no, no, no. Yeah, if if anyone ever gets to Cleveland, do not go to Steel Yard because it's just you'll you'll be disappointed and any any story you go into.

00:20:38.03
Mike
Right.

00:20:40.91
Bill
But yeah, the place is a fucking shithole down there.

00:20:41.62
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:20:43.55
Bill
um But so i'm I'm walking out and I get you know, got a couple of things I had to pick up and I'm walking by the school supplies kind of cut through one of the the aisles there where it was.

00:20:50.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:20:52.98
Bill
And there was a, um, I almost didn't notice it, but it caught my eye. I didn't consciously notice it, but I stopped and I turned around because it was a box of crayons laying on the floor right next to the bin.

00:21:03.57
Mike
Uh

00:21:05.14
Bill
I picked them up and I put them back in the bin and I can't walk it. And I'm walking about halfway to the checkout. I'm like, fuck me in this goddamn shit, man. I'm like, you know, I, there's no reason in the world. Why the fuck, why do I care? about a box of goddamn crayons and some fucking Walmart, you know? um But I mean, it just, it was something, like I said, I didn't, I wasn't walking like, oh, there's a box of crayons. It just, I saw it instinctively stop, picked them up and put them back and then kept walking.

00:21:30.61
Mike
-huh.

00:21:31.26
Bill
It was fucking weird.

00:21:35.73
Bill
But you know, we talked about it before the restrooms and the paper towels and things like that and there could be An entire fucking restroom where you know overflowed garbage can or whatever, you know And then I go put my paper towel in there and it falls and I'll pick mine up and I'll put it back in You know, I mean it just it's it's I noticed that right away and we talked about that before but the these little things and that's why I said when you were talking about it it really just the word habit just kept popping into my head thinking fuck and i mean this whole living in the moment it's literally it's it's ingrained in in what we do which is a good thing you know and uh that's funny last night when i went up to i went up there the ski jump thing took some pictures there and then watch the sunset that was my point to go up there and watch the sunset i didn't realize it was a ski jump there but um yeah it was fucking it it was monstrous just fucking crazy

00:21:39.36
Mike
Right Doubt Mm-hmm

00:22:08.17
Mike
Yep.

00:22:12.97
Mike
Mm-hm.

00:22:26.09
Bill
Um, but I mean cool you could see for fucking ever, you know And so i'm sitting out there and I and I got back here and it was like almost nine o'clock and i'm like Like I want to relax for a minute.

00:22:29.81
Mike
yeah

00:22:36.17
Bill
I'm like fuck man. I'm like, jesus christ. It's fucking nine o'clock I'm like i'm not gonna get to bed until like 10 30 if i I'm like, you know what you fucking idiot You just you took a nice little trip out there. You had a nice sunset.

00:22:46.42
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:22:47.40
Bill
You got to see some shit like stop it Yeah

00:22:51.10
Mike
Right.

00:22:53.04
Bill
And I did, I got to bed. like i I know how my schedule is. If I watch TV for a half hour, take out the contacts, play on my phone, do whatever, and then it's, you know, yeah, it was 10.30. By the time I got to bed, it didn't fucking matter. It was nice, you know?

00:23:03.88
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:23:05.13
Bill
I got to go and enjoy a moment and watch a nice sunset, you know?

00:23:08.09
Mike
Absolutely, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, you know, same thing with me last night. I went to the ball game last night, you know.

00:23:14.99
Bill
Oh, that's right. I was going to ask you about that. I i forgot to write it down, though. Yes, do tell.

00:23:18.46
Mike
yeah Yeah. I mean, good no big deal. You know, I went and I, I got myself a decent seat. Um, I, shit, I got the tickets like month and a half ago. Um, yeah, you know, I just went and ate a couple of brats and a bag of peanuts and watched the ball game.

00:23:28.35
Bill
Yeah, you get all kinds of questions. You need to come across to the magazine to watch the ball game.

00:23:33.85
Mike
It was, uh, it's a pitcher's duel. It was final score was two to one. The goddamn D, Dean's one. Um, Yeah, you know, but it was, it was fun. It was nice. It was enjoyable. It was beautiful summer night. Um, you know, it wasn't too hot, wasn't too cold. It was, it was just great, you know? Uh, yeah, but same thing, you know, I got home, it was fucking, you know, quarter to 10. I got home. It was quarter to fucking 10. I'm like, ah, you know, I'm tired, whatever, but I got to go out and enjoy myself. It was nice. Get to do that shit today.

00:24:07.01
Bill
Right. Yeah, and that's the thing too, I mean that all these all these trips I've taken and stuff like that, you know when I get up at literally you know someone godly hour and leave at you know six in the morning and you know a couple of times it's been well quite a few times it's been Saturday morning and you and I are recording on a Friday night by the time all said and done you know it's even when you know when i get done if it's if it's early ish when we started it still you know nine thirty probably you know and then same deal you know i might get to bed by eleven and if i gotta get up at like five or four to it i don't have to do anything but if i want to leave at a certain time

00:24:22.46
Mike
Mm hmm. Right. Mm hmm. Right.

00:24:41.32
Mike
who Yeah.

00:24:42.70
Bill
You know, I still got my readings to do and I got my shit to do and get my stuff my car packed and blah blah blah But you know what that the thing I always think about and this goes back to the Keating Center When we were still in the three-quarter dorm downstairs and I was working for that place out in Rocky River I was still taking the bus and this was really early. I was with in my first month there um You know and for whatever reason I had one of those nights when I i couldn't sleep and that was the first time I Um, at that point, you know, and I was four, four or five months sober somewhere in that area.

00:25:06.69
Mike
Yeah.

00:25:11.59
Mike
All right.

00:25:13.62
Bill
And, um, and I remember if you don't went to bed and everyone, it'd be 11 ish, you know, by the time I usually went to bed, 10 3 11 and, um, you know, I'm not falling asleep and everyone else is finally going to bed and it's midnight.

00:25:19.19
Mike
Right. Yeah.

00:25:25.25
Bill
It's one and it's fucking two 30. And I'm like, I'm like freaking out. I'm like, I'm going to be a fucking wreck, you know?

00:25:31.42
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:25:32.02
Bill
And then I thought about it and I'm like, I'm like, you know what? I'm like, fuck it, man. I'm not going to be hungover. Okay.

00:25:37.14
Mike
Right.

00:25:39.24
Bill
and i Mean no doubt man. I was I was fucking tired because I got like three hours of sleep or whatever It was by the time probably by the time I got to sleep, but you know what I was I was not hungover I can deal with tired I don't like it You know, but I mean God think about the fucking years ago waking up and I mean I wake up tired sometimes and I got some got a little bit of cloudiness to me and I'm like Oh add the booze to this and now I remember what this was, you know, that's fucking terrible

00:25:42.64
Mike
Right.

00:25:45.99
Mike
right

00:25:52.88
Mike
Right. Right.

00:26:04.03
Mike
Mm hmm. Yeah, right. Exactly. Well, let's say you got a little bug or something, you know, and you go to work and you're like, yeah, same thing, man.

00:26:12.46
Bill
Right.

00:26:14.28
Mike
It's like, fuck, this is still better than half the shit I powered through when I was hungover or whatever. Right. yeah You come to the alarm goes off, right? You're still half in the bag. You fucking get out of here as the day progresses, you fucking get sicker and sicker and oh yeah, good stuff. And you still powered through that shit because there was a drink waiting for you at the end of that.

00:26:36.78
Bill
Right.

00:26:39.10
Mike
you know I did.

00:26:39.48
Bill
Yeah.

00:26:40.74
Mike
all Yeah. You know, so yeah, I power through lots of stuff today and I go, well, exactly. Same thing, man. At least I'm not hungover. At least I'm not fucking, you know, dying to get to that next drink. I'll get home. I'll get something to eat. I'll get some sleep. but It'll be fine.

00:26:55.62
Bill
Right. Yeah. There is a, you know, that goes back to the other thing we talk about all the time is, you know, that the freedom and that's really, that's, it's so, it's so important, you know, to remember that, you know, the humility that the living in the moment and just the freedom of all of this stuff. These, those three simple things, man, if nothing else, I mean, are, are keys, but yeah, the freedom, just being able to, to go and do. And like you said, not having to chase that, that drink at the end of the day.

00:27:21.20
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:27:21.45
Bill
You know, and I mean, you know, for me, when I woke up all fucking tired, I just started drinking again, which which again, didn't, you know, I mean, okay, this, this might surprise you, but that didn't help.

00:27:25.82
Mike
Right.

00:27:32.17
Bill
Okay.

00:27:32.37
Mike
yeah

00:27:32.81
Bill
Just, just letting you know. Cause I know you weren't the maintenance type of drink, but I'm just telling you, just so you, right.

00:27:37.37
Mike
Right. but Again, I've talked about it. i I couldn't. Right. If I started, I didn't stop. There was there was no grabbing a nip here and there.

00:27:43.57
Bill
Right. Right.

00:27:47.47
Mike
Fucking, you know, the old couple hours has gone by. I should probably go get a shot or two. it know I started. I put it in, man. I didn't stop till I was fucking unconscious.

00:27:58.00
Bill
Right? Which, which again is just, it's interesting when we had had that whole conversation about it, because, you know, I would drink, obviously i I could easily, and I did drink like that, but, um, and I don't, I don't call it control the fact that I could drink during the day, but, but somehow I, you know, being a maintenance drinker, it's, it's fucking weird when you look at it now, you know, I'm like, because, I mean, literally the the way that I drank like you did also, but still also did that.

00:28:07.39
Mike
Mm hmm. Right.

00:28:17.83
Mike
and

00:28:24.32
Bill
And I don't know, I don't know how I did both, you know?

00:28:26.76
Mike
Right.

00:28:27.35
Bill
Well, I mean, just in general, how do you go through life fucking loaded?

00:28:32.39
Mike
Uh huh.

00:28:33.11
Bill
I mean, everywhere, everywhere, at least, you know, it's just, yeah, just ah again, freedom. What a terrible life that was. And um I see that's a good thing.

00:28:39.68
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:28:42.31
Bill
It's you know, we when we try to look back at these things, ah thankfully, we get to we get to laugh at them now because you know what? It's it's not that way today.

00:28:49.82
Mike
Exactly. And it was a ridiculous fucking way to live.

00:28:53.60
Bill
Oh, God, yeah, God, yeah. Oh, um real quick here that and I haven't I can I think I can do it now. Riverside had the um had the easy way for me to search for the word fuck in it.

00:29:04.43
Mike
Right.

00:29:05.96
Bill
I put the transcripts into a Word document when I do it, I could easily I could search for it, but I haven't but um what made me think about that was the Deadpool the new Deadpool is coming out I think this weekend and they were talking about it on the radio Ryan Reynolds said or somebody said that Apparently that this this is the first number one.

00:29:11.44
Mike
Mm hmm. Uh huh. Yeah.

00:29:23.78
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:29:24.11
Bill
It's rated R not PG-13. So it's a first like whatever Superhero type of movie or whatever that franchise is Marvel is a Marvel

00:29:32.66
Mike
Yeah, I think so.

00:29:33.38
Bill
Okay. So the first Marvel one that's ever been rated R. So that's number one, but, um, apparently they're saying they're like, yeah, the, the F word is used like a hundred times in that. And the first thing I'm like, fucking amateurs. That's literally what I thought. I'm like, yeah, you fucking, we do that. We do that in 90 minutes and it's probably a two hour movie. I'm like, I got you guys fucking beat, man.

00:29:53.75
Mike
That's right Ah Yes

00:29:55.97
Bill
But um so on a completely other note that I had the had the note on here to talk about it so um I'm sure you saw it and I knew that I think you know that I was gonna reach out to make sure we could announce our what was our mystery guest but Yeah, coming up on September 1st, and we were posting about it. I did it, posted a couple of times this week on Instagram. So take a look if you haven't seen it.

00:30:19.42
Mike
Hmm.

00:30:19.51
Bill
But the guy's name is William Moyers, M-O-Y-E-R-S.

00:30:22.68
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:30:24.29
Bill
um and the So here's the thing, and the the reason that they wanted us to kind of keep a little bit hush-hush is because he's he's going on, a number of different podcasts, I'm sure, and media outlets and all that stuff.

00:30:36.45
Mike
Right. Oh, yeah.

00:30:37.92
Bill
Because ah you know as Mike put it, i mean it's ah it is. It's a book tour.

00:30:41.42
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:30:41.56
Bill
He's coming out with a new book. He got sober some years ago, wrote a book about a sobriety. And then at some point, relapsed. And I can read you know kind of a little write-up that they gave us here and and in a second, of just a paragraph of it.

00:30:52.74
Mike
Mm-hmm

00:30:53.18
Bill
But um he's been sober again, which we're you're figuring maybe handful of years? I don't know. I mean, we're guessing.

00:30:59.20
Mike
Yeah, yeah i Yeah, yeah i' um I did look and I don't fucking remember but I want to say around five something like that Mm

00:30:59.92
Bill
We're guessing, right?

00:31:07.46
Bill
Okay. And then on top of that, so he used to be, he was a journalist, he was with the CNN, I think.

00:31:12.06
Mike
-hmm, right Mm

00:31:13.53
Bill
um I mean, he's been on through his first book, I think was on all these different places. I mean, all these different talk shows and all this shit.

00:31:20.66
Mike
-hmm

00:31:21.24
Bill
And on top of it, he's a VP of public affairs for Hazelden Betty Ford.

00:31:24.49
Mike
Mm hmm. Right.

00:31:26.49
Bill
you know So um all these things in there, and you know when when they first, his <unk> whoever she is, she's cool, her name is Kim, um ended up reaching out to us.

00:31:26.70
Mike
Right.

00:31:33.01
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:31:36.74
Bill
Like I said the first time when we were talking about this, that's the first person that I have not asked, have you listened?

00:31:39.93
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:31:44.66
Bill
Because I'm like, no, get this dude on here.

00:31:46.16
Mike
e

00:31:46.38
Bill
you know but So to your point though, Mike, when when I first sent you the email, you're like, but you're missing this part, so you can you can talk about that part with it.

00:31:55.10
Mike
Well, yeah, no, I mean, well, if you if for you older folks out there he like us, um yeah, you know, you go William, more wait, Bill Moyers.

00:32:00.23
Bill
Yeah.

00:32:05.16
Mike
Yes, he is junior. His father was Bill Moyers, who was, yeah, you know, a politician and journalist and lots and lots and lots of stuff. Yeah. um Yeah. I don't know, just kind of, kind of cool guy's been around, got a lot of cool stuff. Um, yeah, we're really lucky. We got them. I don't know exactly how we did, but we did.

00:32:26.75
Bill
Yeah, and like I said, I mean, I didn't ask a lot of questions. I'm just like, yeah, let's let's just figure out, you know, when's when. So, or when you want to do it. And I said, yeah, we'll work it out. So, but the, the other thing too, the, they wanted us to kind of keep it, keep it quiet because the, the book um is actually being released on September 3rd. He's recording with us in a couple of weeks, and then we're going to sit on the episode and release it on Sunday, September 1st. So we got the okay to do that.

00:32:52.65
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:32:53.99
Bill
Then the book comes out on September 3rd. Um, but yeah, I mean it just it's it is he's I I think it's fair to say he's kind of a big deal, right?

00:33:02.31
Mike
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.

00:33:05.27
Bill
and then it's Hazleton is the one that's publishing the book as it says publishing in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of Hazleton Betty Ford where William Cope Myers has worked for over 28 years broken open is the name of his book exposes the truth that there is more to recovery than simply simply staying sober especially in the midst of depth of the deadly

00:33:18.33
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:33:24.12
Mike
Hmm.

00:33:28.45
Bill
of a deadly opioid epidemic that kills thousands of people every year. So that's a deal. I mean, apparently he went, up you know, he was sober for a number of years, whether the dentist got prescribed some sort of opiate and then ended up ah relapsing.

00:33:34.20
Mike
Yeah.

00:33:38.46
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:33:40.59
Bill
I mean, we've heard that story a number of times, right?

00:33:42.44
Mike
You have millions. Yeah.

00:33:45.30
Bill
So it'll be it'll be interesting. and you know i mean Obviously you and I haven't talked about this much, but um I don't know. i mean I'm sure he has a a certain number of things he wants to talk about. I'm sure his background, his first book, second book, definitely.

00:33:59.12
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:33:59.20
Bill
um Maybe he has Hazleton, who knows. but i mean Obviously I think we want to give him you know him a long enough leash to do whatever the fuck he wants. but

00:34:07.16
Mike
Yeah, definitely.

00:34:07.71
Bill
um I would just I would I I really hope that um And I think we do most of our guests um You know don't don't necessarily Copy the same way they are in another podcast and I really hope with this guy.

00:34:16.76
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:34:20.85
Bill
I hope that that's the case I mean we want to talk about everything that he's all about but Hopefully he we can get him and I think we can get him comfortable enough to just fucking loosen up and have a decent time so

00:34:22.65
Mike
this

00:34:30.83
Mike
Yeah. Yeah. Right. Exactly. That's what we're shooting for. So we always shoot for it.

00:34:35.21
Bill
right

00:34:35.24
Mike
Get comfortable and start swearing.

00:34:38.38
Bill
right well and that that's the other thing too i think the advantage here is i'm not saying that all that not all podcasts run as long as we do but um you know we've got and we've got a longer definitely a longer um time frame you know for him to talk about a lot of things than that a lot of people do so i think that's uh hopefully it'll be i don't want to say an advantage that's a it's not a competition but it sort of is

00:34:45.54
Mike
Mm hmm. Yeah. Mm hmm. Yeah. Right. Yeah. I mean, and and I would imagine he's doing like full book tour. So he's probably doing like, you know, the fucking stoop, the radio shit, um, or, you know, where he's doing, you know, five minute blips with a hundred different radio stations around the country and shit like that.

00:35:08.98
Bill
right

00:35:15.28
Mike
And you know, yeah, yeah.

00:35:15.90
Bill
right

00:35:16.78
Mike
So, you know, we'll see. It's going to be a, yeah, it's a nice jet, as they say in the biz.

00:35:24.66
Bill
Yeah, it it really isn't like you said, not not sure why, but we weren't really, we weren't questioning it to just kind of shut my mouth and tried trying to get the goddamn thing scheduled.

00:35:30.64
Mike
Right.

00:35:33.42
Bill
And you know it it was funny though, when i but I emailed her this week, I'm like, ah I said, yeah I know you mentioned about waiting and just want to check in, see if it's okay if we can you know obviously announce it.

00:35:33.83
Mike
um so

00:35:43.40
Bill
And in the back of my head, just want to check in and see if you fucking change your mind or.

00:35:46.89
Mike
Right. Right.

00:35:48.63
Bill
Hopefully, hopefully you haven't listened to anything yet. You know, you haven't realized that you're putting them in the in the middle of a couple of dickheads, you know, but.

00:35:50.79
Mike
a

00:35:55.78
Mike
right

00:35:58.23
Bill
Yeah, but no, I I'm looking forward to it. I mean the Hazilden connection to when I guess, you know, I'd love to hear. I knew nothing. the The name did not even click, you know, with me didn't know about his dad or anything like that.

00:36:07.42
Mike
Yeah.

00:36:09.33
Bill
So, um but, you know, ah once again, we we talk about this all the time.

00:36:09.51
Mike
Right.

00:36:13.53
Bill
There's there's a lot of reasons why there's two of us on here.

00:36:14.24
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:36:18.11
Bill
And that just happens to be one of them. So much of these, those those sort of things just go right up over my head. Not always, you know, but sometimes I'm just like, Bill who?

00:36:24.41
Mike
Right.

00:36:27.53
Bill
What?

00:36:28.09
Mike
yeah And I did just glanced at my phone, yes. he His dad was the press secretary for Lyndon Johnson.

00:36:32.47
Bill
Oh, that's right. That's right.

00:36:38.12
Mike
Yeah, yeah.

00:36:38.51
Bill
God, I forgot about that.

00:36:39.70
Mike
I mean, I knew his White House, I just couldn't remember exactly, but yeah, that was it.

00:36:39.91
Bill
So I think that... Yeah.

00:36:43.73
Mike
and But he had you had a long career and you know clearly the media and whatever, yeah. I mean, I knew his dad's name. It was yeah yeah one of the famous fucking names from the 70s and shit, you know right?

00:36:56.34
Bill
right Yeah, I didn't I I don't know what the fuck I was doing in the 70s.

00:36:59.87
Mike
Nah, you're playing with tinker toys or something.

00:37:00.02
Bill
It wasn't like a I Had take your toys they weren't they were fucking stupid but you know and and back in our day They were actually would not plastic, you know, so Yeah, take her toys would take your toys and the big fucking GI Joes and all that stuff where the beards would come off in the water Quality toys definitely quality toys

00:37:09.82
Mike
Right.

00:37:14.98
Mike
see

00:37:21.05
Mike
That's right. Kung Fu grip.

00:37:24.52
Bill
Yeah. So, um, so yeah, so we got a couple of things coming up again, just as a recap, we've got obviously, um, William Moyers coming up on September 1st, Dr.

00:37:33.45
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:37:33.90
Bill
Sarah, um, August 23rd, and then, um, John M on August 9th.

00:37:36.42
Mike
Right.

00:37:39.28
Bill
So you get to put up with us for this week and then next week, and then we have a guest on the 9th and then again, the 23rd. So yeah, big time, big time shit coming up.

00:37:45.37
Mike
this

00:37:48.39
Mike
That's right.

00:37:50.37
Bill
So um actually let's just do one one more thing before before we take a break. And this is just one that I was listening to a podcast the other day and again for the fucking life of me. I don't remember how this came up, but the question that came into my head was, Mike, how do you define the word sobriety or sobriety ah in general?

00:38:12.27
Mike
Well bill How do I define sobriety um since um Well, it's not just being clean and it's not just being sober um it's yeah, it's it's It's everything. It's ah it's it's a new way of life. It is um

00:38:38.13
Mike
the easiest way is doing the next right thing. You know, we do it, we say it all the fucking time and it is the easiest answer, but it is. It's continuing to try to do the next right thing and everything we we fucking do. And if you do that, then, you know, that the substances become unnecessary. um That's living sober. I mean, you know, and we've seen plenty of times, you know, people who Are in the program and you know, i'm i'm sober. I don't drink anymore. Whatever i'm in their miserable fucks and um, yeah And I you know, that's that's not what it is to me, man

00:39:15.76
Bill
right

00:39:16.24
Mike
You know, I don't want to be a miserable fuck occasionally. I'm a miserable fuck still. Um, but most of the time i'm I'm not a miserable fuck anymore. Um, yeah, not being that being, being happy, being kind, being, being a good person, being a good boy, be a good boy.

00:39:31.48
Bill
Right.

00:39:33.86
Mike
God damn it.

00:39:35.34
Bill
Right.

00:39:35.84
Mike
Yes, that's, yeah, that's, that's it, man. It's, it's not being an asshole, not being, not being hurtful, not being a liar, not being a thief, not being a cheat, all that stuff, being a better person, being a good person. That's what sobriety is to me. And yeah, if you're doing that and you're working at all that shit, you don't need the substances. The substances are, they go way down the list, you know? I mean, trying not to be an asshole to the person that cut you off in traffic, That's a lot harder than not picking up a drink for me today.

00:40:08.32
Mike
You know, way fucking harder.

00:40:08.39
Bill
Right.

00:40:10.04
Mike
You know, not picking up a drink. Again, we've talked about it a million times. So I think about it as across my mind. Of course it does. um You know, and then I play the fucking tape through with that one. Is that going to make your life any better? No. Are you going to be miserable again? Yes. Well, then fuck that shit. You know, but somebody cuts me off raising my middle finger laying on my horn. and um

00:40:34.92
Mike
That feels pretty goddamn good. of But don't do that either because it's temporary and it's fucking what's the point, man?

00:40:37.17
Bill
Right.

00:40:43.14
Mike
Burning calories for nothing.

00:40:43.35
Bill
Right.

00:40:44.54
Mike
It's not being a good boy. And in the grand scheme of things, I want to be that good boy so that the substances don't play a factor in my life anymore. So that's what being sober is. How about that, Bill?

00:40:59.05
Bill
but Thank you, Mike.

00:41:00.41
Mike
okay

00:41:00.86
Bill
but but yeah you know and We had talked about it, and I know ah you know even went back to Founder's Day that one year, I was fucking around with Kathy but um you know about her you know saying she had and you know she was sober because she hadn't drank in a couple of days, or it didn't have wine in a couple of days.

00:41:07.04
Mike
Hmm.

00:41:11.94
Mike
Right. Right.

00:41:13.75
Bill
That's when we said you know sober is ah is a lifestyle, you know which which is really, i mean what everything that you said, i mean not not that I'm trying to simplify it, but it's

00:41:17.56
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:41:22.37
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:41:22.92
Bill
you know it is it's it it's all these different things you know and like you said it's not just it's not the substance or the lack of or just putting down so used to say you know obviously in in a all the time you know just putting down the job is not enough you know just changing your breath.

00:41:37.40
Mike
Right. Put the plug in the jug.

00:41:39.85
Bill
right And just just changing your breath you know is is not enough. you know there's There's more work to be involved.

00:41:44.75
Mike
No.

00:41:46.04
Bill
you know And i mean that's the first step. i mean you can't You can't work on yourself. i mean For us people, you know we can't be better people if we're still you know ingesting that shit.

00:41:53.31
Mike
All right.

00:41:57.03
Bill
um but But yeah, like you said, ah and I love the fact of um you know doing the next right thing. and it It is, being a good boy, it is, i not getting pissed off. I mean, being even keeled, um trying to do things for other people.

00:42:07.29
Mike
Hmm.

00:42:11.50
Bill
I don't know, living in the moment like we were talking about before, all of these different things, it is.

00:42:14.17
Mike
Right.

00:42:16.62
Bill
It goes back to that old saying, you know what are you gonna change?

00:42:18.05
Mike
Mm

00:42:19.24
Bill
You gotta change everything but our name. you know

00:42:21.27
Mike
hmm.

00:42:21.65
Bill
and And it really is change the the people the places in the things all that all that shit it doesn't mean if anyone's out there in europe and you're you're just you really sober or thinking about it or get that or even you know been sober for a little bit.

00:42:31.77
Mike
Hmm.

00:42:35.29
Bill
I'm telling you gotta be gotta change or you know drop everyone in your life but you need to take a fucking look.

00:42:37.36
Mike
Hmm Yeah, absolutely Mm

00:42:42.02
Bill
You know, and, and whether it's a I mean, I hate to say it, but whether it's a spouse or it's a family member, um you know, sometimes people need to stay away from their kids for a little bit with their adult kids, um whatever that whatever the case is, you know, um every once in a while, this shit just we have to make these changes, because anything we put before this whole sobriety thing, you know, is just gonna, it's gonna go away, everything else is going to go away, you know, so

00:42:48.18
Mike
-hmm Well, well

00:43:06.42
Mike
Yep. Yep. Absolutely.

00:43:09.41
Bill
But yeah, I mean, it is, uh, yeah, you talk about that. I, when, when we first got sober, you know, you drive down the highway and it's like, it's like drive sober. I'm like, fuck, there's so much sober means, man. You don't understand, man.

00:43:21.36
Mike
Right.

00:43:23.15
Bill
It's not just about, yeah. So you're not drinking. You're not sober.

00:43:27.10
Mike
No, right. You're dry.

00:43:28.90
Bill
Yeah.

00:43:29.55
Mike
There is a difference.

00:43:29.84
Bill
Yeah. Yeah. You're just, you're just free of alcohol at that moment, which is, which is fine.

00:43:32.92
Mike
All right.

00:43:34.38
Bill
We're not, you know, putting that down and just to us, the word means something 100% and completely different, right?

00:43:40.95
Mike
Yep. Absolutely.

00:43:42.59
Bill
Yeah. So, all right. So, um, yeah, just wanted to get that, I figured that'd be a relatively quick one to get out of the way, but that made you think for a minute too, which kind of made me laugh. So, um, all right, what do you think break?

00:43:51.37
Mike
this Break time. All right. We'll be back with more of this wonderful conversation. We're after these words from our sponsors. is is is is

00:44:11.70
Bill
All right, everyone. Welcome back in with your sponsors. So when we do this, the break like that, I write down the time. So I, I, you know, the start and the finish of it roughly. So I know where to look at the recording. So I wrote it down to you did that. I lost three seconds in that timeframe. I'm like, okay, wait, I'm waiting.

00:44:31.03
Mike
well

00:44:32.54
Bill
I knew it'd be this. I'm like, okay, now he's, there we go. Now we gotta write it down.

00:44:35.66
Mike
for Right.

00:44:36.86
Bill
But it was, it was funny though. It was funny. Yeah, we'll see.

00:44:38.83
Mike
Well, we'll see. Right. It may be a sponsor or it may be sponsors. Yes. So I figured I'd cover my bases.

00:44:46.33
Bill
Yeah, but hopefully you enjoyed those messages that you just heard.

00:44:50.79
Mike
Yes.

00:44:52.13
Bill
But um yeah, I don't know. I mean, all this stuff so far, I mean, I love the reading and yeah, I like, I don't know. I like digging back and talking about some of this stuff. Just something is, I don't know, simplistic, you know, in a sense to the word sobriety, but man, it's a, it's kind of a big deal, you know, right?

00:45:07.41
Mike
It is, it's the most important thing in my life today.

00:45:12.96
Bill
All right, um hang on one second here. and Let's take a look at what we got here. um Okay, so you know what? This came up and we haven't talked about it for a while, so I don't really want to necessarily have to beat up the point again, but but once again, listening to podcasts and all those sort of things, I i hear a particular word um you know quite a bit. you know when When things get rough and when things you know bother you and all this sort of things, um obviously people put the word on it as the the trigger. you know and it it used to It doesn't bother me, it doesn't grate on me.

00:45:43.16
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:45:47.26
Mike
We can't say that anymore. We have to say the T word.

00:45:51.12
Bill
What, triggers? Oh, nice, okay. But, um so the, you know, it used to bother me a lot, actually great on me when I heard it.

00:45:59.62
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:46:01.12
Bill
And it doesn't as much anymore, but I just think that it's, it maybe it's because, maybe this is the point that people, I think people overuse the word to be begin with, you know, to the point where I don't think people even understand um what,

00:46:01.30
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:46:09.82
Mike
Of course.

00:46:14.94
Bill
people that say this triggered me and this didn't that, this didn't trigger me, um I don't think people understand it anymore.

00:46:17.39
Mike
Mhm.

00:46:20.55
Bill
So that's why, and I'd written this down, I don't know, a few weeks ago, but um rather than, you know, the, the event that people call a trigger, I just thought maybe, you know, again, maybe we could talk about really what it, what it means to us and maybe put this in real terms again for people.

00:46:29.99
Mike
Mhm.

00:46:32.69
Mike
Mhm.

00:46:35.77
Bill
So if somebody said to you that triggered me or technically without you using the word trigger, what would you say if something happened to you that would normally invoke that word? How do you define a trigger without using that word?

00:46:48.51
Mike
oh Well, yeah, I've said it before and I will say it again apparently ah Excuse It's an excuse it is something that has allowed me to

00:46:57.63
Bill
yeah

00:47:05.72
Mike
behave badly, whatever that bad behavior is, whether it's drinking or using or being a dick or whatever, this triggered me. No, it didn't asshole. You allowed it to, you use it as an excuse for your bad behavior. It triggered me. So it has more control over you. So you're allowing these things to happen. Nah, fuck that man. Nothing triggers me.

00:47:27.86
Bill
Thank

00:47:28.73
Mike
You know, I'm thinking things trigger me constantly. You know, I

00:47:35.49
Mike
You know, to evoke emotions, um whatever, but allowing outside things to control my reactions or allowing outside forces to Yeah, excuses, man.

00:47:52.54
Bill
you

00:47:52.69
Mike
It's all fucking excuses. It's all it is. A trigger is nothing more than ah a a way to get away with doing something that you shouldn't be doing. It triggered me. No, it didn't. You allowed something to allow you to behave badly. Period.

00:48:10.00
Bill
Right.

00:48:12.34
Bill
And I i like the the fact that I was just about to write that down, allowing yourself to do that or or allowing something you know to do that.

00:48:17.38
Mike
Mm hmm. Yes.

00:48:19.89
Bill
And I think that's ah that's a great way to put it because the, you know and and I know we've talked about this probably plenty of times, but I don't know, it's it gets it gets, the word gets thrown out there so long or so much that i I truly think it loses the meaning and I don't i don't think people really understand what it means.

00:48:34.29
Mike
Mm-hmm. What?

00:48:37.01
Bill
um It's just they think that they're, you know Anytime anything happened, it's a trigger. inlet To your point, no, it's not.

00:48:41.93
Mike
Mm.

00:48:42.60
Bill
you know And even as far back as early, early, early in this stuff, when when somebody would say, oh, you don't want to do that because it triggers you, the the word bothered me and I didn't understand why.

00:48:47.57
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:48:53.24
Bill
But then when I figured out, I didn't figure out everything, but I figured out to the point where nothing is making me do anything.

00:48:54.13
Mike
Mm.

00:48:59.57
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:49:00.53
Bill
you know um to your point I would have to allow it and and fuck that you know um no outside influence is going to make me want to drink it can't that's impossible and no outside influence is going to make me a physically drink again unless somebody knocks me down holds me down and literally opens my mouth forces it open and dumps booze down my throat you know I mean

00:49:10.08
Mike
Right. Right. Mm hmm. Right.

00:49:24.02
Bill
You can't, if you were laying on your back and somebody had you down like that with your mouth open, you couldn't move and somebody dumped tab booze in your mouth, you're going to swallow it or you're going to die.

00:49:33.04
Mike
Right.

00:49:33.82
Bill
You know, so that would be the only way that I, that I'm going to drink or somebody could make me drink. But the thing of it is, is just, I figured out for myself that anything like that, it's, if something makes me uncomfortable, that's the deal.

00:49:38.30
Mike
Yeah.

00:49:48.04
Bill
It's not a trigger, just something inside me that make this making me uncomfortable.

00:49:49.24
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:49:52.23
Bill
Then I've got to figure out the why am I in the wrong place? Is it the wrong time?

00:49:55.31
Mike
Right.

00:49:56.16
Bill
Am I around the wrong people?

00:49:56.88
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:49:57.08
Bill
Am I doing the wrong thing?

00:49:58.90
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:49:59.22
Bill
You know, if that's the case, then either way it's on me, right?

00:50:03.15
Mike
Yeah, absolutely. 100% responsible for ourselves. Absolutely.

00:50:07.69
Bill
Damn it.

00:50:08.06
Mike
100%. Yup. Yup.

00:50:13.03
Bill
yeah But yeah, it just it it it doesn't really, like I said, it doesn't grate done greatte on me as much as it used to, but um still, i just I think that people overuse it and really, it's been diluted to the point where people just have no fucking idea what you know what it is.

00:50:27.60
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:50:28.73
Bill
and People talk about it all the time look let's figure out I mean there's podcast episodes that are specifically set up to to talk about You know what may trigger you at at this event or that event you know what there is nothing in the world There's no such fucking thing as a trigger to Mike's point either.

00:50:32.66
Mike
Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

00:50:42.22
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:50:43.24
Bill
It's an excuse if you use the word you know or or use that situation

00:50:47.80
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:50:49.92
Bill
As a reason to act badly or drink or whatever the case, that's an excuse and that's your fucking fault.

00:50:52.80
Mike
Yep.

00:50:55.39
Mike
Yep.

00:50:55.49
Bill
You know, or if you feel, I'm going to say quote unquote triggered, it's also your fault.

00:51:00.09
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:51:01.61
Bill
You're in the wrong place.

00:51:02.03
Mike
Yeah.

00:51:02.21
Bill
so You're doing the wrong thing.

00:51:02.81
Mike
Yeah.

00:51:03.38
Bill
That's it.

00:51:03.55
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:51:04.38
Bill
You know?

00:51:04.49
Mike
Yeah. Yes. Yes. Again, 100% responsible for my actions, feelings, all that shit. It's all me. Nobody else. And but again, and we've talked about it. Yes, it's all my all my responsibility. And because it's all my responsibility, it's also all of my freedom.

00:51:28.16
Bill
Right? Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So yeah, bottom line is that no such thing, at least in our minds, there really is no such thing as triggers.

00:51:34.51
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:51:35.87
Bill
And I honestly, there isn't anything as a trigger.

00:51:37.23
Mike
Nope.

00:51:38.70
Bill
It's just a fucking word. You know, it's a word that people have.

00:51:40.37
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:51:42.47
Bill
I mean, it's been around for fucking years. Like somebody gets on your nerves. It could be used even, even in a non-drinking sense, you know, that a person triggers me.

00:51:49.49
Mike
Sure.

00:51:51.79
Bill
No, they don't, you know?

00:51:52.17
Mike
Uh-huh. No, they don't know. I've allowed them to, to make me feel a certain way. Well, then it's again, my responsibility to do something about that.

00:51:59.10
Bill
Right?

00:52:05.48
Bill
Yeah, and I mean, therere there's no there there's no reason to to give anyone, and this may sound, I don't know if this is gonna sound egotistical, but if it is, fuck it.

00:52:06.09
Mike
Yeah.

00:52:14.14
Bill
um There's no reason for us to give anyone else that kind of power over us, you know?

00:52:17.67
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:52:19.47
Bill
And because that's what it is. You're allowing somebody else to you know to to dictate and rule your you know this this sober life that we're living in.

00:52:21.89
Mike
Oh, absolutely.

00:52:26.64
Mike
who Right.

00:52:27.31
Bill
Fuck them, that's not their place. so

00:52:29.50
Mike
Exactly. By doing this work, by being a part of this program, by doing this shit, we enjoy a new freedom and a new happiness, which means that nothing can fucking trigger me other than, other than assholes, you know, saying that they're triggered.

00:52:40.75
Bill
Right, right. So yeah, like I said, I...

00:52:46.70
Mike
ah Fuck you.

00:52:48.91
Bill
But even that, so you're allowing that word. That's that's why I thought about it too, when because I remember when I wrote this down again, but I just thought about it as I was reading it off.

00:52:51.51
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

00:52:57.58
Bill
It really doesn't bother me any as much anymore, but I just, I still, I roll my fucking eyes at it because I'm thinking stupid.

00:52:59.41
Mike
Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah.

00:53:02.92
Bill
You know, it's fucking ridiculous.

00:53:03.25
Mike
Well, yeah, it is. It is. How do we really feel?

00:53:08.59
Bill
I know. Yeah, it's like when we talked about that last week about sugar coating, right?

00:53:12.63
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:53:12.93
Bill
What's that last week? We talked about sugar canning sugar coating.

00:53:14.96
Mike
Sure. Yes.

00:53:17.71
Bill
Yeah, it's just ah it's I don't know. It's what what's the fucking point? You know, why why beat it around the bush? Yeah, really, Mike and Bill, how do you feel? Well, I think we just fucking told you.

00:53:25.40
Mike
Hmm. That's right.

00:53:29.16
Bill
So ah real quick, and I just want to tell you about a couple of things about this place and a couple of things that went on this week. Again, I think a couple of these things you're probably going to laugh at me about, but So, um first of all, obviously, when I when i got here, obviously, I was able to get in, not a problem, texted everyone. I'm like, hey, I'm here.

00:53:43.84
Mike
Right.

00:53:45.36
Bill
And I could actually get in because, you know, obviously, last week I couldn't.

00:53:46.98
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:53:48.36
Bill
But, um neat place. it's ah It's a nice little neighborhood. It's an older neighborhood. um Not like Shacks or anything like that. You know, it's not a bad neighborhood, just older, you know.

00:53:57.86
Mike
Right.

00:53:58.15
Bill
And this house is, and I thought that they had said, that they it was built in the 40s but they've owned it since the 40s because I look back at the original write-up because I was curious so I don't know how old the house is but um I don't know maybe it's maybe it's a hundred years old like yours I have no idea um the kitchen in the living room area has been redone it's got like the kind of like the I don't want to say fake wood floors but you know kind of like the laminate fake wood floors

00:54:04.20
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:54:09.78
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:54:14.04
Mike
All right.

00:54:23.77
Mike
Yeah, yeah, right, exactly. like

00:54:26.28
Bill
You know that the kitchen's been done do appliances countertops i mean i think you saw the pictures bedrooms are fine um you know the basement it's an old basement you know all that stuff but all in all it's just it's it's nice they they've clearly done something you know with the windows and stuff because even when it got cold i didn't have i mean the air hadn't been on in a couple of days but the heat didn't kick on or anything like that so it kept it warm in here

00:54:34.00
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:54:47.62
Bill
But so when I first get in here, everything I do want to get to a place because my my key is I need to need the internet, they the ethernet plug, need to make sure that works.

00:54:54.51
Mike
Right.

00:54:55.34
Bill
and Before I even unpack anything, I usually test out one of my computers. So I come in here and I'm looking for the modem in the router. I'm like, I can't find it.

00:55:04.27
Mike
Hmm.

00:55:04.34
Bill
um All walk around say all the bedrooms. I'm looking I'm even looking at a bathroom and looking in cupboards I'm looking in encounter, you know under the counter So I'm like, you know sometimes depending on where they had to hook it up It's tucked in someplace and I can't fucking find it.

00:55:14.64
Mike
Right.

00:55:17.49
Bill
So I go downstairs looking all over the place I'm like, I don't see a fucking router. So I connected on my phone. So I know I'm connected to it But I'm like where the fuck is this? I'm like, I'm not gonna message this guy.

00:55:27.20
Mike
Right. It exists, but

00:55:29.81
Bill
Yeah, you know and I knew it wasn't um because when he first sent me the the Wi-Fi stuff what showed on the Airbnb page He must have had Verizon internet in here because cause it was like the network was Verizon something so I knew it wasn't that I knew it was something else.

00:55:34.92
Mike
Right.

00:55:44.60
Bill
It's like um Cellcom or something in this area, or whatever it is. It's Internet service and I do a speed test and the speeds quick and I'm like fuck I just got to find this

00:55:48.90
Mike
Right. Right.

00:55:53.52
Bill
So finally I go downstairs and one of the one of the rooms I find that in this this little box that's um I don't know about the size of a Trying to think size of a small and like a small speaker, you know, I mean really kind of a small box I'm like, well, that's kind of weird Then I see a cable and I follow the cable and it's sitting on like the the router It looks like ah a small a little bit bigger speaker um But the cable is plugged into it and that's right on top of the shelf on the washer downstairs

00:56:06.45
Mike
All right.

00:56:17.58
Mike
Yeah.

00:56:21.53
Bill
And I'm like, okay, so I need to plug in and be upstairs, right?

00:56:21.78
Mike
Yeah.

00:56:24.97
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:56:27.93
Bill
so i So I look and I'm looking around, I'm like, fuck me. The only good thing is like two months ago, I started traveling with both of my ethernet cables, the 50 foot that I use, and then the 100 foot that they gave me for work.

00:56:36.69
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:56:39.55
Bill
um i just I'm like, ah just in case I'll throw that in there thankfully, because I wouldn't have had it enough space.

00:56:39.53
Mike
Right?

00:56:43.61
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:56:44.62
Bill
So, um, literally where it is, it's right below the kitchen sink. And I'm like, I see the pipe going up there. I'm like, fuck, I wonder if my cable will fit through there. So tried that it didn't work. So I grabbed 100 foot cable. It's down the stairs around.

00:56:56.55
Mike
Hehehehe.

00:56:58.13
Bill
It's plugged in kind of running along. They had a rug in like a big rug. I had my other rug over it. So, so that's how I hooked it up. And then I'm like, OK, I found this area that I wanted to put this nice open wall. And then um you know I start setting everything up. I'm like, ah this will work here. So I was going to do it one of the bedrooms. And then um just to keep it out of the way.

00:57:17.17
Mike
All right.

00:57:17.58
Bill
But no three prong plugs in the bedrooms. I'm like, no big deal. Remember that old house, right?

00:57:20.97
Mike
Right.

00:57:21.58
Bill
You don't know anything about that.

00:57:23.66
Mike
Now.

00:57:23.84
Bill
So yeah, one one plug and not three prong, right? So I get ah getting everything set up and then I look and I'm like, oh fuck there's not even a three-prong plug Where I set my stuff up and I'm like fuck me It's open concept.

00:57:28.19
Mike
Right.

00:57:35.19
Mike
right

00:57:37.98
Bill
So there's one by the kitchen, but even with my two power strips. I don't have enough space I'm like goddamn it. and So right up to Walmart Bought an extension, five foot extension cord, got that all hooked up. So I'm all all good to go.

00:57:49.49
Mike
Hey.

00:57:50.80
Bill
But during this process too, you know, this was like on Sunday when I was hooking that up, but on Saturday, I think I tried to make some coffee on Saturday, maybe a Sunday morning. One of the coffee pots that acts has actually the the reusable kind of mesh filter in it, you know, kind of a triangle, triangular type, not the round one.

00:58:05.62
Mike
Right. the Right.

00:58:08.91
Bill
So I'm like, oh, okay, well, one of these, and there was filters in the cupboard, but I'm like, well, that's kind of weird. So I think it was Sunday when I made my coffee, um you know put in normal amount made full pot of coffee I come out here and I look and there's only like I don't know two cups of coffee and they're like Maybe it's a two or the four cup thing. I open up the top. It's full, you know So what happened was is the the filter obviously didn't work just filled up with water and leaked down around the sides Thankfully into the coffee pot, but I'm like fuck me.

00:58:27.97
Mike
this

00:58:33.08
Mike
Mmhmm. Mmhmm.

00:58:38.96
Bill
So I Dump everything out Like I try to make a half a pot, that doesn't work. So I'm like, well, I guess this filter doesn't work. So I use a regular filter, try to make a full pot, that doesn't work. I'm like, God damn it.

00:58:52.12
Mike
Mmhmm.

00:58:52.23
Bill
So I was able to make a half a pot of coffee with a real filter, right? So this is Sunday. So it works on Sunday, made a little bit, maybe I think Sunday afternoon, Monday morning, same deal. It kind of gets stuck and I noticed that the pot didn't fit well underneath. Through this whole process, I'm like, I should just go up to fucking Walmart and buy a $10 coffee pot.

00:59:10.42
Mike
right

00:59:10.75
Bill
So after four different tries, finally, Monday night, I went up to Walmart yeah and I just bought a small coffee, but I'm like, fuck it. I don't, I'm not even going to try to deal with it. You know, I mean, that had nothing to do with that, with the house. But the thing of it is in this part of it, I'm like, I'm so fucking stupid. I'm so fucking hard headed. And I wasn't even, I don't know that I was going for the easier, softer way or just being fucking bullheaded figured I'm going to make this fucking work.

00:59:31.04
Mike
Right. he right

00:59:35.19
Bill
You know?

00:59:35.58
Mike
How'd that work out for you?

00:59:36.67
Bill
So, um, so yeah.

00:59:40.27
Bill
Well, after hearing my story, but um I mean, it's it's a nice place. you know Like I said, it just did the whole thing with the um with the power you know power cords and and whatever, and three-prong plugs and blah, blah, blah.

00:59:51.49
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:59:54.36
Bill
they they Again, they redid the kitchen, so they had to put, you know obviously that had to be, I'm sure, up to code.

00:59:59.16
Mike
Right.

00:59:59.58
Bill
But it works, man. It's just a matter of getting set up. Like I said, it's nice. It's got a car port. It was raining when I got here, so I was able to back my car in and pull up to the point to give myself space.

01:00:07.63
Mike
Mm.

01:00:13.00
Bill
I was able to empty my car while it was raining, which I had to do that one time when I was up in Fond du Lac. No, Oshkosh. I shouldn't have had to load my car in the rain. That sucked.

01:00:21.81
Mike
This is right.

01:00:22.60
Bill
You know, but um yeah, it's just nice and then I went again spent all this time in Michigan that the place that I went that I took all the pictures of that. um Honestly, and I know I put it in the in the post but this so far as far as that view that I saw in that river.

01:00:33.68
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:00:39.70
Bill
um best so far and literally what when I was down in Arkansas um I'm thinking if it if it was normal word you could tell it hadn't rained that much that river was kind of dry I think that river would look like this you know um but um oh my god I get to this place well first of all you got a quote unquote register and pay like eleven dollars you know

01:00:41.68
Mike
Yep.

01:00:51.39
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

01:01:02.24
Mike
Right?

01:01:02.74
Bill
and nobody's there on a sunday when i went so these other guys were there i'm like i'd like it if you read this can you figure out what to do is like i just gotta fill this out and put the money in this to over here michael fuck so so i look in its eleven dollars well first of all i really carry cash i had some but guess what i had i had a fucking twenty.

01:01:10.47
Mike
Hehehe. Mm-hmm.

01:01:21.23
Mike
That.

01:01:22.22
Bill
So the the park ah got $20, but um when you first walk in and it's called Piers Gorge and they it's like Pier 1, Pier 2, Pier 3, Pier 4, blah, blah, blah, all these different areas where you can look. So the first one I walk up to and I'm just like, I'm like, oh, fuck me. And there's these nice little little rapids.

01:01:37.90
Mike
Hmm.

01:01:39.38
Bill
I mean, not like beastly rapids, just little ones. You've got to walk out. I'm looking at I spent like 10 or 15 minutes. They're just kind of looking taking some pictures Then the second one I walk up to and it points down you got to walk down and you go with this just this little rise and I'm like fuck me That's the one where I was up on the hill and there she's raging rabbits coming down.

01:01:59.99
Mike
Mmhmm.

01:02:00.11
Bill
It was fucking spectacular

01:02:01.67
Mike
Mmhmm.

01:02:01.72
Bill
You know, and yeah, so I walked all around in there. I don't know that day. I walked like, I don't know, three, four miles, whatever the deal was, but man, it was fucking beautiful.

01:02:10.62
Mike
Yeah.

01:02:10.66
Bill
And then the other one was just like a roadside thing, but there's other, there's other trails. I think the, not this weekend, cause I'm going down to Appleton on Saturday, Derek and Katie are coming up tomorrow.

01:02:20.37
Mike
Mmhmm.

01:02:20.80
Bill
And then Kimmy's coming back on Saturday. I think Saturday, Saturday night, but maybe the next weekend, because i I'm gonna be in Appleton the following weekend because they're going down to Lollapalooza down by Kathy um Yeah, so I'm watching watching Ali for that that night, but um I think yeah like next Saturday I might do some more kicking around but man.

01:02:31.88
Mike
Right. okay

01:02:40.12
Mike
Yeah.

01:02:40.36
Bill
I fucking telling you it's just it's it's fucking beautiful.

01:02:42.72
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:02:42.80
Bill
It's just crazy just crazy so

01:02:45.70
Mike
Yeah, I mean, you know, ah I mean, you're up there, man. I don't know how far you're gonna wander into Michigan, but I mean, you know, yeah, you know, the picture rocks and all that shit up there by Lake Superior, man. Check that shit out. It's it's gorgeous up there.

01:02:59.36
Bill
Right.

01:02:59.52
Mike
UP is a beautiful place, man. It's fucking rough and wild and yeah, you know, Hiawatha National Forest and all that shit's up there. It's probably not that far. I mean, hell, UP isn't that far across. What is it? 150 miles or something, maybe?

01:03:14.53
Bill
Is it? Okay.

01:03:15.33
Mike
I don't know. Yeah.

01:03:16.80
Bill
Yeah, there's a, I like to take a look because the, um I mean that the the place that I went to was I don't know probably like 15 minutes away technically was just up and around I mean from here if I looked across the river and over to the right is kind of where it was, um you know, but I had to go obviously up and around 15 minutes away whatever the deal was it wasn't that big of a deal. um But I mean there I've got this app called all trails that I could look at and I may I mean that again that next not this weekend but next weekend maybe on that Saturday if I got because I've got all day you know get up early and you don't take even if I got to take a hour or so drive someplace it'd it'd be worth it while I'm up here but

01:03:47.62
Mike
Right?

01:03:53.90
Bill
yeah i mean this this town there's not much to it you know but there's a there's like a little restaurant bar down the road from here that i think that um just telling uh katie and derrick i'm like we should just get a lot of time to get here i'm like rather than try to figure out something for dinner um it looked like they have decent burgers and decent food and looks like a nice little atmosphere down there so we might just you know try to catch some food down there but um yeah from a grocery shopping standpoint i think there's a little grocery store somewhere around here but i just went there's all the up and you know again ten minutes away same thing with uh what do you call it with um walmart's there dominos is gonna be up the road which obviously i'm not having pizza tomorrow but

01:04:30.40
Bill
I'm all that shit is 10 minutes away, you know, it's in Michigan, but, you know, yeah, it's, I'll tell you, I've, I've never been, I've never been in this part of Wisconsin before.

01:04:32.74
Mike
Go. Yeah.

01:04:39.98
Bill
And, you know, certainly I don't, um I know I, I've never been in the UP before. So.

01:04:45.55
Mike
Right. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's beautiful. I, I spent a winter up there with my insane mother.

01:04:50.17
Bill
Oh, did you? Yeah. yeah

01:04:52.03
Mike
Yes.

01:04:52.58
Bill
oh Yeah, okay. I you know what I completely forgot about that when you said you lived in the andt live in that area so Yeah well

01:05:00.13
Mike
Yeah, I mean, it was down. It's a where I was at was the other side down in the Straits of Mackinac. But yeah, yeah, I spent a winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, you know, and it was it was beautiful, but it fucking a man, it was rough.

01:05:15.87
Bill
Well, and it's, and it's funny, I think when I was driving, um, either might've been when I was going to that trail or when I was going to, I don't know, last night, but they, um, even, even now, and they must just keep them up the entire, the entire time. they The, the snowmobile trails are still marked as you can see the ah stop signs and things like that for ah all the, in Wisconsin, um, in normal parts.

01:05:32.51
Mike
Uh-huh. Mm-hmm.

01:05:38.08
Bill
I mean, like down around Milwaukee, though.

01:05:39.87
Mike
Normal part.

01:05:41.01
Bill
well I don't wanna say normal parts, I'm i'm sorry, the the less, the more populated areas, is that's a better way to put it, I apologize.

01:05:45.25
Mike
Yes, right.

01:05:46.95
Bill
um But they'll they'll take those things down because um there was, and I forget who it was, that um somebody that dawned, friends of dawn's, I think, like that, because I think Derek might to help one year.

01:05:47.31
Mike
he Right.

01:05:58.51
Bill
um actually remark the trails. I had to go out and remark everything, um you know, late summer, whatever it was. So i was it surprised me, you know, to see him up. And I'm like, well, I mean, the winter here, I think last probably about three or the summer last like three weeks, you know.

01:06:12.06
Mike
Right.

01:06:14.69
Bill
But yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't want to, unless I had no place to be and no place to go and nothing to do, I i wouldn't want to be up here during the wintertime. You know, would not be my choice.

01:06:22.56
Mike
listen

01:06:24.70
Bill
Not at all. So all right, you want to hear about but cocaine and sharks?

01:06:31.98
Mike
Constantly.

01:06:33.88
Bill
So this is again that the morning show I listened to um And I'm just gonna read the hang on one second.

01:06:36.12
Mike
Hmm.

01:06:40.58
Bill
Let me get get to the headline here sharks off rate rail Rio de Janeiro test positive for cocaine And this is recent this is from oh shit July 25th, that's today

01:06:48.66
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:06:51.12
Mike
Nice.

01:06:53.38
Mike
Well.

01:06:55.80
Bill
um that is the 25th right yeah okay so this is from ruder so it's not like a fake story sharks off the coast of braville's party city rio de gennaro uh have tested positive for cocaine the predators were consuming the potent stimulant due to its continuous release from inadequate sewage treatment facilities and clandestine refining operations um scientists wrote but it says some may also have attacked bricks of cocaine

01:06:58.55
Mike
Yeah. Alright.

01:07:19.32
Mike
All

01:07:22.78
Bill
which traffickers had lost off ah ah at sea off the coast of Brazil, one of the world's largest markets for drug or for the drug.

01:07:30.54
Mike
right.

01:07:30.57
Bill
And first of all, I mean, when they said that, I stopped for a minute, I'm like, wait a second, what? Because then they started talking about, you know, obviously the the whole movie, Cocaine Bear, which was based on a true story or true-ish story, whatever the case was.

01:07:36.48
Mike
Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

01:07:43.60
Bill
And um you know obviously they were there just talking back and forth about all this stuff that saying, is it really, do you think that the water, the you know that actual, full ocean area out there is so contaminated that they can just drink it. I'm like, it's got to be more of the, I would think, you know, them attacking like the bricks and shit like that. Wouldn't you think or?

01:08:00.68
Mike
ahha i observe yeah

01:08:03.84
Bill
I mean, how much cocaine would you have to have in like a big, um again, a big water area like that to have the entire water contaminated, you know?

01:08:11.85
Mike
Right. Yeah. Well, i again, that they're testing positive. I mean, I don't know how exactly how much is in their systems, but, right.

01:08:18.08
Bill
All right.

01:08:19.34
Mike
You know, trace amounts, whatever. Yeah. I mean, they said, you know, run off from from processing plants and shit down there. Sure. Yeah. You know, talk about hitting the pipe, man. ah

01:08:33.37
Bill
Right. Well, you know, honestly, the first thing I thought about was, I mean, first of all, I think this is that this goes without saying, but um I never want to encounter a shark, you know, unless it's behind like three feet of glass or whatever is in an aquarium or something like that.

01:08:43.38
Mike
Sure. Right.

01:08:47.75
Bill
um So I have no desire to encounter a shark. um But I mean, what the fuck would a sharks or mean as fuck to begin with or can be?

01:08:56.24
Mike
Right. Yeah.

01:08:57.48
Bill
What about a fucking shark that's all coked up?

01:09:03.06
Bill
I'm like, what, what the fuck would they, I don't know. I mean, would they be more aggressive? I would assume so. Right.

01:09:07.78
Mike
I well, corner yet in a party and fucking start talking nonsense to you.

01:09:07.99
Bill
or like

01:09:15.27
Bill
You won't believe this. I was out fishing. This fucking shark would shut up. Did he eat you? No, he just wouldn't stop fucking talking.

01:09:20.04
Mike
He's fucking wouldn't stop talking man. Solving all the world's problems. Fuck.

01:09:30.45
Bill
Yes. Oh, that's just so dumb.

01:09:32.66
Mike
Yep.

01:09:34.10
Bill
Oh, but, uh, yeah, no, the story itself just made me kind of laugh. But I'm like, well, I said this, this kind of fits with a, with an alcohol related podcast, alcohol and drug related podcast.

01:09:42.52
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:09:44.74
Bill
So I'm like, uh, I'm like, okay, I yeah want to talk about that. So, but, uh,

01:09:48.98
Mike
All right. Well, good to know. Yes. The sharks are getting coked up.

01:09:53.24
Bill
yeah It just, seriously, it just made me laugh. But um the news person in this this morning show has been together for like 34 years. I think 30 some years in Milwaukee alone or close to that, whatever it's been. But their news person, her name is Carrie.

01:10:06.36
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:10:09.13
Bill
She's been there, shit, 20 plus, maybe 25 years.

01:10:13.70
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:10:14.14
Bill
you know So, I mean, they're they're like, they're longtime friends, I mean, along with anything else. but um she just she brings in these she talks about news stories real news and all the shit that's going on and and whatever but um she always has these you know these like these kicker stores and these fucking headline stories and uh i don't know this i they they catch my ear every once in a while i brought up a number of them on here because they may like fucking make me laugh you know but uh i don't know i just say it did it just fucking made me laugh so okay um did we talk about bob newhart the fact that he died

01:10:36.74
Mike
Mm hmm. Right.

01:10:48.14
Mike
We did not. It happened.

01:10:49.38
Bill
I didn't think so.

01:10:50.06
Mike
Uh, yeah, I believe it was Saturday that he passed.

01:10:52.40
Bill
Oh, was it?

01:10:53.06
Mike
Yeah.

01:10:53.35
Bill
I couldn't remember what what day it was. But um Mark Marin Oh, yeah, yeah because on on the way up here, that's what it was. I was what made me think about it because ah Mark Marin replayed his conversations with him from like, 2014 and then 2015 or 16 or whatever it was.

01:11:06.66
Mike
Yeah.

01:11:12.20
Bill
Man, it was great. He was like, fucking 80 something when he had those those interviews and stuff with him.

01:11:15.84
Mike
Right.

01:11:16.80
Bill
But did you listen to those episodes or no?

01:11:18.76
Mike
I didn't, I saw them and I, I marked them, but I didn't get a chance to this week.

01:11:20.04
Bill
Okay.

01:11:22.88
Mike
Nope.

01:11:23.70
Bill
Yeah, you know what? And I, I was always a fan of of Bob Newhart. I mean, I didn't, I didn't remember until some of the things he started talking about, then they played the ah clip of the clip of him when he was doing his Abe Lincoln thing.

01:11:28.19
Mike
Oh, sure.

01:11:37.32
Bill
And um I mean, that was just that's really fucking funny.

01:11:37.65
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:11:40.27
Bill
I mean, that's, you know, fucking 50 years old, or whatever it is, or almost 60 years old, whenever it was when he did it.

01:11:40.82
Mike
Yeah.

01:11:43.87
Mike
um Yeah, right.

01:11:46.26
Bill
um And I mean,

01:11:46.76
Mike
That was the early 60s, man. Yeah.

01:11:48.88
Bill
Oh yeah. Oh God. Yeah. So yeah, 60 years old, but, uh, it just, it, I forgot how just hilarious he was.

01:11:55.19
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:11:55.50
Bill
I mean, just what a, he's fun. He's, he's fun to listen to. you And even, even as an old man, you know, <unk>ing it's just recounting all these things and, you know, Mark Hennep laughing back and forth.

01:11:59.43
Mike
Yeah, it was hilarious.

01:12:06.87
Bill
It was, they were good episodes, the replays obviously, but, um, yeah, they were really good episodes.

01:12:09.80
Mike
Yeah.

01:12:11.63
Bill
So,

01:12:11.96
Mike
Yeah. I got to check them out. Right. And you know who his best friend was, right?

01:12:15.88
Bill
um, Bob Newhart's no.

01:12:17.51
Mike
Yeah. Don Rickles.

01:12:20.66
Bill
Oh, yeah, yeah, I did know that because they thought, yeah, that was that was in the episode. I forgot about that.

01:12:24.07
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

01:12:25.01
Bill
Yeah, they they did. Yeah, they met. um i he be ah the I can't remember. you'll You'll hear it when you when you listen to it, but they met randomly, you know, and then they just became friends, you know, so.

01:12:31.50
Mike
Right. Yeah. Right. Mm hmm. Yeah, right. Two very different styles of comedians, but right, you know, ah yeah, they'd like to hit, they and their wives would go on vacation together and shit.

01:12:45.43
Bill
Yeah, yep.

01:12:45.76
Mike
Yeah. Right.

01:12:48.57
Bill
Well, and he said that the first time ah Bob said the first time that his wife um went to one of Don Riggles shows, um you know, he gets, you know, she's like, oh, he's so nice.

01:12:55.27
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:12:58.63
Bill
He's so sweet. And Bob Bob's just kind of like, you know, you really you've never heard his show before and sit down and ah don.

01:12:59.71
Mike
ahha

01:13:04.88
Bill
And the they talk about this story. But he made some comment about the couple and made some comment about the two of them that was completely fucking filthy almost. And ah she's just, Bob Stewart looked over his wife and he's like, see, told ya.

01:13:12.55
Mike
Mm-hmm

01:13:17.14
Bill
She's just basically, I don't wanna say horrified, but it was just, it was making me laugh, so.

01:13:21.74
Mike
Aha Mm

01:13:22.56
Bill
But yeah, that was that was good. I got one more one more question on that. But um when I was listening to that podcast and I think at the end of it, you know, of course I'm driving, so I didn't stop it right away. And I think one of his new episodes started and, you know, obviously starts with what the fuckers and what this and what the that, you know, what he said, he said, he said, what the fuck knuckle.

01:13:37.31
Mike
-hmm hmm

01:13:40.76
Mike
Yeah.

01:13:42.03
Bill
And then he stopped and he said, he says, hey, you know what, I like that. And I'm like, you know, fucker, that's our stop it.

01:13:47.91
Mike
it Ah, stealing from the best.

01:13:51.73
Bill
Yeah. I know. Yeah. And I'm like, I'm like, you've been listening, Mark. Have you listened over here, Mark? Have you? yeah Have you?

01:13:58.09
Mike
All right, Mark, if you're out there, you gotta to give us some credit, man.

01:13:59.46
Bill
Yeah,

01:14:02.51
Bill
yeah God damn it.

01:14:03.23
Mike
Send a little sub little traffic our way.

01:14:06.41
Bill
Yeah, even even if we get, you know, 100 people that that happen to come over this way. Come on, Mark. Give up a couple.

01:14:12.15
Mike
Right. this this this

01:14:13.37
Bill
Not share a couple. That's how you got to share a couple. We love you, Mark. That's for sure.

01:14:17.41
Mike
out yeah Yes.

01:14:17.56
Bill
So all right. So my question, though, that that I wrote down, did you ever play the drinking game? Hi, Bob.

01:14:26.73
Bill
Yeah. And I'm wondering if if even if even people out there, you know, younger people even know what it is, I don't know. But um so I'll let you go and explain explain the game for anyone who doesn't know what it is.

01:14:36.65
Mike
Well, it's funny, actually, one of the sort of that ah cable channels, whatever, was showing a bunch of old Bob Newhart shows, the 70s version over the weekend. And I watched a couple and it was silently playing Hi Bob in my head. ah I watched one really good episode. ah because They said hi, Bob, a lot. Anyway, the the game was the original Bob Newhart show, the one where he's a psychologist in Chicago. um His character's name is Bob. So how you play the game is you watch the TV show and every time they say Bob, you take a drink. And if they say hi, Bob, you chug a whole drink.

01:15:16.16
Mike
So that that's the game. That's watch the Bob Newhart show. And every time they say Bob, you take a drink.

01:15:20.25
Bill
Anyway

01:15:21.51
Mike
And when they say hi, Bob, you slam a whole beer or whatever you're drinking.

01:15:23.55
Bill
the game was

01:15:26.56
Mike
um Yeah, right. And like I said, I was actually I watched an episode this weekend and they said, hi, Bob, um like seven or eight times in a row. And I was like, yeah, this is a good one.

01:15:40.01
Bill
Yeah, it's ah it's one of those. and And yeah, I mean, it's it's so fucking simplistic. But even to the point when we used to play that when, again, I only went to school, I went to college for one year, and we would sit down and you know, whatever night it was on, it again, it started the fucking week at like seven o'clock or whatever the case was, you know, so what we would do is we were all underage, but I had a fake ID and a couple other guys did.

01:15:50.74
Mike
Mm-hmm

01:16:04.76
Bill
So we'd we'd go down to the obviously store and then make sure we had enough beer But all we would we would start the game with each one of us would have at least a 12-pack in front of us, you know And the same thing gets every time Bob take a drink and then slam.

01:16:12.98
Mike
Mm-hmm

01:16:17.92
Bill
Hi Bob slam the rest of what you got and start over So the one night we wanted to play and there was I know there was me and my roommate at least two other guys and We had no beer and I forget what whatever the deal was were like we're not going down whatever the case was and somebody had a bottle of vodka so we played high Bob with vodka and cherry Kool-Aid okay and that was one of the nights that I made the puke chart because

01:16:36.01
Mike
Mmm.

01:16:39.67
Mike
Mm hmm. Nice.

01:16:47.49
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:16:49.28
Bill
And it was, again, one of those nights when, and of course, the night we're fucking playing with vodka, right?

01:16:53.95
Mike
this

01:16:54.19
Bill
You know, and yeah, just like, hi, Bob. Hi, Bob. Hi, Bob. Hey, hi, Bob.

01:16:57.25
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:16:58.53
Bill
You're like, fuck me. But um yeah, that game was just, I thought about that when I was listening to it. I hadn't thought about that game and in years. Again, very, you know, immature, simplistic drinking game, but um fucking easy.

01:17:10.94
Mike
Mmhmm.

01:17:11.83
Bill
And it was a lot of fun. He said to play with a bunch of people and yeah, he just sat around, watched a fucking TV show and got hammered.

01:17:13.47
Mike
Right.

01:17:20.64
Bill
And it literally it was it was almost impossible. I think that the So I don't remember what what channel was not that it matters, but they used to run like I don't know marathons of it You know so it'd be you know three four episodes in a row and you know it was a couple of times maybe that was the night that we played with the vodka, but

01:17:31.00
Mike
Mmhmm. Hmm.

01:17:40.85
Bill
Um, yeah, it's, you know, you sit there and watch even one or two of those episodes and get yourself just fucking toasted.

01:17:47.07
Mike
You catch yourself a buzz.

01:17:47.69
Bill
So get yourself a big old buzz, a big old buzz.

01:17:52.91
Mike
All right.

01:17:56.17
Bill
All right. Um, one more thing. Okay. So I listened to, um, tune in to listen to that morning show, um, all the time. Cause you know, again, we're on tune and also by the way, aren't we, Mike?

01:18:06.42
Mike
Right.

01:18:09.96
Mike
I'm sure.

01:18:12.35
Bill
Yes, we are. Yes, we are.

01:18:13.41
Mike
Okay.

01:18:13.55
Bill
So, but I listened to the morning show through tune in and, you know, again, regardless of where, where I'm at, they play ads and sometimes they're local, blah, blah, blah. But there was an ad on there for, and I never heard this one before, but it just came up the other day for California psychics. Okay.

01:18:28.23
Mike
Ah,

01:18:29.28
Bill
and And I'm like, okay, fucking weird to begin with. But um their their tagline, they said, you know, come get a get a reading, blah, blah, blah, do this, do that, go online to their website. And then they're like, if it's not life changing, your reading is free.

01:18:46.35
Mike
right.

01:18:46.77
Bill
And I'm like, okay, so to find life changing.

01:18:52.41
Mike
right

01:18:53.28
Bill
I mean, everyone, I mean, i what the fuck, man? I was just like, it made me laugh, and I'm like, how do you even qualify that? And then I can't even imagine, because again, this is fucking online, you know?

01:19:03.66
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:19:03.97
Bill
um How do you go about trying to go like, nope, that wasn't life changing. I'm i'm sure there's there's no easy way to get your fucking money back, but

01:19:11.52
Mike
Oh, of course not.

01:19:15.34
Mike
Well, you know, they see you coming. So there are psychics.

01:19:18.40
Bill
Yeah, right. Yeah, we've we've changed your life because you you chose to get a ah psychic reading.

01:19:24.90
Mike
Right, sucker.

01:19:26.63
Bill
yeah Hey, okay, so same thing with Mike and I with what we're doing here. If this isn't life changing, this podcast is absolutely free there.

01:19:32.19
Mike
for her Right. Yes, it is. There you go.

01:19:38.54
Bill
Alright, so but little side note on that. Did you ever anytime in your life go to a psychic or get a reading or

01:19:43.68
Mike
God, no.

01:19:45.47
Bill
Okay. I'm just, I lived in California. You were fucking druggy and all that stuff and hanging out different people.

01:19:50.72
Mike
I wasn't retarded.

01:19:51.55
Bill
Who knows?

01:19:54.63
Bill
I don't know, possibly on a whim. I never did either, but I just didn't know. You know, cause you've, you've lived more of a life doing, you know, doing whatever.

01:19:58.62
Mike
No.

01:20:02.14
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:20:02.29
Bill
Um, I don't put anything past what you did. I wouldn't have made fun of you for it either. I wanted to hear about it.

01:20:06.38
Mike
Right.

01:20:07.05
Bill
That's all. But, um, so no, that,

01:20:08.96
Mike
Uh, all right. Well, that actually, um, when I was really, really little, um, there was, uh, God. but Again, my my insane mother. oh I don't know. theres i we I come from a Polish family and my mother's maiden name was Konwinski. Yeah, and there was some old Polak lady somehow involved with the family who was quote unquote psychic.

01:20:40.49
Mike
And um I remember my mom going and getting readings from her. so i Technically I was in the room. I mean seriously little like maybe four and five somewhere in there.

01:20:50.66
Bill
Right.

01:20:51.67
Mike
Um Yeah, you know and I'm I think I think she directed some of that bullshit my way um at one point um You know telling me there whatever I you know, okay lady fine. Good. I'm a little kid I don't yeah, and I still thought it was bullshit um So yes, all right to all honesty yes, apparently i I have been to a psychic at one point in my life Mm

01:21:18.79
Bill
So I never did, but when Kimmy's mom and I were together, and I don't remember, we went down to Chicago for something. I don't remember why we went down there, but we went with another um couple that lived down downstairs from us in the apartment complex that we got to be good friends with.

01:21:34.28
Mike
-hmm

01:21:35.46
Bill
you know just I remember we we went down to Chicago, we stayed overnight someplace. Again, I have no idea why we went down there. But um we were driving out and it was the the guy from the other couple that was driving. And again, some sign like psychic readings and he's like, he's like, oh, let's stop. And his wife is like, yeah. And I, Pam, my, my ex, or my wife at the time, she's like, yeah, but I'm up.

01:21:55.06
Mike
the

01:21:56.77
Bill
And I'm like, fuck no so we go in I didn't go in I'm like fucking man I'm not gonna I have no desire to to hear or go through any of this stuff they went in and I don't remember if if they even shared with me what they heard or whatever it was but I'd say that's the that's the closest I ever got to it but I had no desire to sit down with somebody there's probably two reasons for it

01:22:18.39
Mike
Mmhmm.

01:22:18.89
Bill
one because again bullshit but the other thing too is if there was any shred of what might I don't I don't need to know what's I guess maybe what we were talking about before I don't need to have any I don't need to have any I seriously I don't want to have a glimpse into the future I I just I'm like fuck it I want to live my life I've always been that way before I before I even got sober like Ouija boards used to fucking freak me out you know

01:22:19.25
Mike
Mmhmm.

01:22:28.40
Mike
All right. All right.

01:22:44.35
Bill
um Every once in a while they were they were fun until somebody tried to answer questions of like fuck that I don't want to know this shit you know did you hear all these stories about when's the wind like gonna die or how am I gonna die or whatever like I don't wanna fucking know that no.

01:22:51.24
Mike
since

01:22:56.27
Mike
Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

01:22:59.40
Bill
Yeah, but um yeah, I don't know.

01:22:59.39
Mike
All right.

01:23:01.92
Bill
It was just, it was just funny, but uh, so anyhow, so yeah, you got close, closer to a psychic than I did. But, uh, Hey, if anyone else out there who's had a psychic reading, email us.

01:23:08.14
Mike
right Right.

01:23:13.56
Bill
Yeah. Now we don't want to hear it. Well, you know what?

01:23:15.38
Mike
Now.

01:23:16.21
Bill
Now I was going to say, maybe it'd be a funny story, but that'd probably be right.

01:23:18.49
Mike
No, it's all made up. It's all bullshit.

01:23:24.45
Bill
Yeah. Don't, don't waste your internet ink on that bullshit. Ladies and gentlemen.

01:23:28.18
Mike
Right.

01:23:29.58
Bill
All right. So what do you think? I mean, it's middle of the week, end of the week, whatever, the whatever time it is, it's, it's late.

01:23:33.27
Mike
Yeah. Uh-huh.

01:23:35.44
Bill
So you know what? I think we're done. You think your crystal balls.

01:23:38.98
Mike
Well, I don't know. Let me consult my crystal ball.

01:23:44.67
Mike
That's right.

01:23:46.28
Bill
Ah, nice.

01:23:46.62
Mike
Hang on. Let me shine them up. maybe

01:23:50.24
Bill
All right, man. Then it's your turn. I guess you and you and your, you and your balls can rush us on out of here.

01:23:54.14
Mike
Wait, let me, wait, let me, i'm I'm getting a message from somewhere. Hold on, wait, wait, wait. Oh, it's coming through, it's getting clearer. It's that time, people. It's that time. No. Thank you for listening to another episode of Sober Not Mature. So always be kind to each other, be good to each other, do something nice for somebody else this week. And don't bullshit anybody, all right? Now it is that time. That message is coming through clear. It is that time. It is time for you to fuck off. Then keep fucking off. Keep fucking off till you get to a gate with a sign on it saying you cannot fuck off past here. Climb over that gate.

01:24:33.15
Mike
dream the impossible dream and keep fucking off forever.
